The project along South River Road was conducted for Santa Cruz County prior to road improvements. The data recovery focused on a single site, AZ EE:9:117 (ASM), a small fieldhouse site along the Santa Cruz River, with a prehistoric and a historic-period component. The prehistoric component included two pithouse remnants, numerous extramural pits, and one unique mortuary feature.
