Plan outlining data recovery methods for archaeological resources at the OMNI Antenna Pad and Cable Trench. The major research question that will be addressed in the proposed data recovery at the OMNI antenna and cable trench location concerns the function of site utilization.

Archaeological Reconnaissance and Subsurface Testing, Proposed Omni Antenna and Cable Trench, Bellows Air Force Station, Waimanalo, Oahu, Hawaii (1988)
DOCUMENT Full-Text J. Stephen Athens.

Results of a one week surface and subsurface archaeological reconnaissance survey are discussed. A subsurface gray sand archaeological layer was documented in portions of the proposed OMNI antenna project area at Bellows AFS. In situ deposits were found to occur in discontinuous remains in both the central portion of the cable trench area and the antenna pad area. Basalt debitage was quite dense in at least one part of the central cable trench area, suggesting a stone tool workshop area. The...

Preliminary Report: Archaeological Reconnaissance Survey for Proposed OMNI Antenna, Bellows Air Force Station, Waimanalo, Oahu, Hawaii (1986)
DOCUMENT Full-Text J. Stephen Athens.

Archaeological field investigations were initiated on October 24, 1986 and completed on November 3, 1986 for a total of 5 field days. The proposed OMNI antenna site is to be situated within the abandoned runway area of Bellows Air Force Station. A number of other antennae are presently located throughout the runway area. In order to locate the boundaries of the antenna pad and cable trench alignment, it was necessary to compute bearings from the engineering map and then shoot these in with a...
