The Sevenmile Gulch site is located in southwestern Wyoming within the Green River Basin. The site is situated 18 miles west of the Green River and 1.3 miles north of the Blacks Fork River. The site sits upon the crest and slopes of a low southwest- to northeast-trending ridge at 6400 feet amsl. The ridge is actually a terrace of the Blacks Fork River that has been dissected by many small, deeply cut drainages. Fill from a slab-lined hearth at site 24CB1861 in southern Montana was examined for pollen and macrofloral remains. Fremont pottery was found on the site surface, and Rose Spring projectile points were found associated with the hearth. The feature yielded a conventional radiocarbon age of 1270 ± 70 BP. Pollen and macrofloral analyses are used to provide information concerning plant resources available to and utilized by the site occupants.
