The U.S. Air Force proposes to use a portion of Mud Lake on the Nellis Air Force Range for an emergency runway. The general location of the project is presented in Figure 1. The proposed runway is 1.8 km (1.1 miles) east to west and 1.7 km (1.1 miles) north to south, and is near and incorporates a portion of a previously designated emergency runway on the lakebed.
