The FRA railroad track system was originally constructed in the 1950's with 70 lb. track components, and the majority of the components used to construct the system were used parts obtained from the Copper river and Great Northwestern Railroad which operated between Cordova and Kennecott, Alaska, and which shut down operations in 1938.
