Survey areas were selected primarily as an opportunity to record and evaluate the historical significance of several auxiliary airfields located between Ajo and Gila Bend on the Goldwater Range. Simultaneously, this provided an opportunity to sample valley floor and lower bajada settings for prehistoric sites.
