On April 16, 1996, a core sample was extracted from the Lost River Playa on Holloman Air Force Base (HAFB). Technicians and archaeologists from Geo-Marine, Inc. (GMI) extracted the sample under the direction of Dr. Curtis Monger of the New Mexico State University (NMSU) Pedology Laboratory and Martyn Tagg, HAFB Archaeologist.
