The Garrett Allen (Elk Mountain) archaeological site is located in southeastern Carbon County, Wyoming at the northern end of the Medicine Bow Mountains and southern edge of the Hanna-Carbon Basin. It is within a homoclinal valley adjacent to the perennial Quealy Spring which forms an ephemeral drainage flowing north-northwest.
