85NM613 is located on the end of a ridge (running approximately north-south) that forms the first terrace of Palomas Creek (see Figure 1). Architectural remains and surface ceramics indicate a Late Classic, twelve (3X4) room pueblo with at least 4 extraneous pit structures. The Buckaroo Site (85NM613) is a 12 room, massive masonry pueblo situated on a finger-like terrace above the north bank of the Palomas creek in south central New Mexico. The Palomas flows down from the eastern flanks of the Black Range Mountains and joins the Rio Grande about 160 miles south of the modern city of Albuquerque.
