Sites 8PO999 (Fort Arbuckle) and 8HG1455 (Orange Hammock Crossing) are two previously documented archaeological sites that underwent additional cultural resource investigations by Versar Inc. in order to assess if these sites fulfill eligibility requirements for the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). Sediment and lithic artifacts were submitted for pollen, macrofloral, and protein residue (CIEP) analysis.

A preliminary cultural resource assessment survey was conducted of the 106,210 acre Avon Park Air Force Range (APAFR) in Polk and Highlands Counties, Florida. The purpose of the survey was to provide base level data on the types, distribution, and potential significance of archaeological and historic period sites located on the APAFR.
