The River Basin Surveys, Smithsonian Institution examined the area to be inundated by Kelsey Creek Reservoir in Lake County, California for archaeological resources. Clarence E. Smith carried out the field work in the fall of 1947. Although the area is small, no less than 13 sites were found within it. Four of the sites were habitation sites, as indicated by the presence of middens. The other 9 sites were likely "workshop" sites.

In December 2008, Archaeological Consulting Services, Ltd. (ACS) re-visited 16 sites in Lake Regional Park to assess their condition. ACS archaeologists documented the sites and evaluated their current state of preservation. This project contains photo documentation of the assessment work. "The Department proposes to widen the existing two-lane ditch section of S-5 to accommodate the addition of a turn lane at the truck entrance to Kimberly Clark in Aiken County, South Carolina (Figure 1).
