What Blue Springs County Park lacks in size, it makes up for in cultural resources, both in terms of density and variety. For example, three archaeological sites were recorded within the park at the time of state acquisition. In 1971, the Division of Archives, History and Records Management (now the Division of Historical Resources) at the request of the Florida Department of Transportation conducted archaeological excavations at site 8MD18 just southwest of Madison, Florida.
