Cultural Resource Survey, North Wilcox Camp, Fort A.P. Hill (AP2012.001)

The Fort A.P. Hill Cultural Resource Manager, under the Environmental Division of the Directorate of Public Works within Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia, has completed a cultural resource survey of portions of Wilcox Camp at Fort A.P. Hill, Caroline County, Virginia. The cultural resource survey included archaeological and architectural survey investigations.

The objective of the archaeological survey was to identify any historic properties that may be located within the Survey Area and evaluate the potential eligibility of any such resources for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. The archaeological survey included pedestrian surface survey and the excavation of shovel tests. No archaeological sites, artifacts, cultural features, or cultural deposits were encountered during the archaeological survey.

The objective of the architectural survey was to identify any historic properties that may be adversely affected by direct visual impacts as a result of the proposed undertaking. No structures over 50 years of age were identified within the Survey Area and no historic properties were identified within the APE.
