Ingiríðarstaðir
Part of: Iceland
The 2010 archaeological excavation at the pre-1300 AD site of Ingiríðarstaðir, N Iceland, resulted in the recovery of some 365 animal bone fragments. Of these, 121 were identifiable to species. The archaeofaunal assemblage, generally poorly-preserved, is comprised entirely of domestic animals. Cattle and caprines dominate the specimens identifiable to species level, though the assemblage does also include one pig bone and the remains of a domestic cat.
