Three-Minute Artifact Forum - Artifacts That Enlighten: The Ordinary and the Unexpected
Part of: Society for Historical Archaeology 2019
This collection contains the abstracts of the papers presented in the session entitled "Three-Minute Artifact Forum - Artifacts That Enlighten: The Ordinary and the Unexpected," at the 2019 annual meeting of the Society for Historical Archaeology.
The majority of artifacts historical archaeologists find are ordinary objects; things we recognize instantly and have seen lots of. However, every once in a while, one of these ordinary artifacts speaks to us. It could be because of the density of the find within a site, a unique motif it contains, its historical use, or because it just isn't like the others of its type. All of our panelists will present artifacts that are special, either because they are so ordinary or so unexpected and, perhaps, because they are a little of both.
