VAFB-1977-01: Final Report: An Intensive Archaeological Survey of Five Areas On Vandenberg Air Force Base Santa Barbara County, California

Author(s): Michael A. Glassow

Year: 1977

Summary

This document is a report that presents the results of an intensive archaeological survey of five separate areas on Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, that range in size from approximately one to 400 acres. Based on information collected in a 1974 survey of other portions of the base, two sites were predicted to be present in the largest of the areas and one site in another. The survey failed to locate any sites, but isolated finds of three chert flakes and a flake tool in the localities where sites were expected to be present indicated that the predictions had some value. No further archaeological investigations in these five areas is deemed necessary.
