Summary
This report describes the survey that was undertaken to evaluate the condition of
the archaeological collections housed and curated by the Massachusetts Historical
Commission within the State Archives building at 220 Morrissey Blvd., Boston, MA
02125. It is limited to those collections acquired as a result of state and federally
funded transportation-related projects. While this does not include all collections at
MHC it does cover the bulk of artifacts in storage. Separate reports have been
prepared for those collections housed at the Boston Landmarks Commission and
UMass Amherst.
