Summary
At the request of the National Park Service (NPS), the Archaeological Research Laboratory (ARL) at the University of Tennessee’s (UT’s) Department of Anthropology has prepared an Archaeological Overview and Assessment (AOA) of the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park (CUGA). The primary purpose of this AOA is to investigate, describe, and assess the known and potential archaeological resources within the CUGA boundaries. An AOA is the first step in creating a comprehensive cultural resource management plan within the park and provides the park a baseline for future
archaeological investigations and research.
