POLLEN AND MACROFOSSIL ANALYSIS OF FIVE HEARTHS IN MOFFAT COUNTY, COLORADO

Author(s): Linda J. Scott; PaleoResearch Institute

Year: 1981

Summary

Ten pollen samples from five prehistoric hearths (site 5MF95B)

were submitted for analysis by the Powers Elevation Company. The

site is located in Section 12, T 11N, R 100W, Moffat County, Colorado,

during the archaeological monitoring of well pad and access road construction.

The sampling design employed at this site was developed

and implemented by the archaeologists at powers Elevation. The fill

of five hearths exposed by the bulldozer prior to well pad construction

were sampled, as was the area outside each hearth. It was hoped that

the pollen profiles from these feature fills would provide data on prehistoric

plant utilization at this site.
