SUBSISTENCE DATA FROM ANASAZI SITES ON THE NORTH LEASE OF THE MCKINLEY MINE, NEW MEXICO: THE POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL RECORDS
Author(s): Linda Scott; PaleoResearch Institute
Year: 1985
Summary
Pollen and macrofloral analyses were undertaken on samples from
several prehistoric sites on the North lease area of the McKinley Mine for
the purpose of assessing the subsistence base of the inhabitants of these
sites. In the case of site NL86 pollen and macrofloral samples were taken
from stratigraphic columns and from the trash midden (Feature 6). Pollen
only was recovered from the post-occupational fill of the kiva (Feature 8).
Both pollen and macrofloral remains were recovered from site NL141. Eight
additional sites were sampled for macrofloral remains, primarily in hearths
and pits.
