POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSES AT SITES SBa 19, SBa 19WEST, AND SBa 1213 IN SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings; PaleoResearch Institute
Year: 1988
Summary
Twenty-eight pollen and twenty-five flotation samples have been
analyzed from sites SBa 19, SBa 19 West, and SBa 1213 in Santa Barbara
County, California. Although radiocarbon dates are not yet available, the
Ocean Meadows site (SBa 19) appears to include two components, which date to
approximately 2,000 BC to 0 AD and 1400 to 1600 AD. Nineteen pollen and
eight macrofloral samples were collected from Ocean Meadows and represent a
variety of proveniences within several trenches and several features. Two
pollen and six macrofloral samples were collected from SBa 19West, a midden
deposit located at the edge of a stream/beach adjacent to Montecito Creek.
In addition, nine pollen and ten macrofloral samples were collected at SBa
1213.
