POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT 5EP2, SOUTHEASTERN COLORADO
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings; PaleoResearch Institute
Year: 1988
Summary
Site 5EP2 is located in a large rockshelter at the base of a sandstone
cliff. The shelter faces approximately west-southwest. Plains Woodland
artifacts were noted at the site, and radiocarbon ages of 1350 + 60 BP and
1490 + 60 BP were obtained from the base of the deposits. This site is the
only site in the area to yield pottery so far. Pollen and macrofloral
samples were collected stratigraphically at 5EP2 to assess
paleoenvironmental conditions and to identify any evidence of subsistence
activity.
