Author(s): Kathryn Puseman; Linda Scott Cummings; Laura Ruggiero
Year: 1999
Summary
Samples from features at Site 5MT11884 in southwest Colorado were analyzed for pollen
and macrofloral remains. This site represents at least a late Pueblo II habitation site that
appears to have a experienced long-term occupation with salvaging and remodeling of features.
Pollen and/or macrofloral samples were recovered from a mealing bin in a pitstructure, a kiva,
a trash pit in a surface structure, and an extramural pit. The kiva is noted to have exhibited
several characteristics typically associated with Pueblo II kivas in the area. Pollen and
macrofloral analyses are used to provide information concerning plant resources that were
utilized by the occupants of this site.
