Summary
Three soil samples for macrofloral analysis and a wood sample for identification were
examined from Sites Ca-Sha-726/H and Ca-Sha-2983. These sites are located near Lake Britton
and the Pit River in Shasta County, northern California, which is within the ethnographic territory
of the Ilmawi Band of Pit River Indians. Macrofloral analysis is used to provide subsistence
information concerning plant resources utilized by the prehistoric occupants of these sites.
