MACROFLORAL AND PROTEIN RESIDUE ANALYSIS AT SITE 24DL470, MONTANA
Author(s): Kathryn Puseman
Year: 2002
Summary
Three soil samples from Late Prehistoric site 24DL470 in southwest Montana were floated to recover charred macrofloral remains. Five lithic artifacts were submitted for protein residue analysis. This site is believed to be associated with Numic (Shoshone) Expansion in the area, and features at the site might have been used for camas roasting or chert cooking activities. Macrofloral analysis will be used to determine plant resources utilized and possible feature function. Protein residue analysis can provide information concerning use of animal resources at the site.
