POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT THE NOMAD SITE, 48SW9204, SOUTHWEST WYOMING
Author(s): Kathryn Puseman; Linda Scott Cummings
Year: 2003
Summary
The floated light fractions from the fill of five basin hearth features at the Nomad site,
48SW9204, in southwest Wyoming were examined for macrofloral remains to provide information
concerning plant resources that were utilized by the site occupants. In addition, a mano fragment
found on the edge of a small pit of unknown function (Feature 6) was washed for pollen and
starches to determine plants that might have been ground using the mano. A soil control was
collected with the mano. Feature 6 has yielded an uncalibrated radiocarbon age of 4740 ± 80 BP,
indicating an Archaic occupation of the site.
