POLLEN ANALYSIS FOR AZ EE:9:174
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings
Year: 2003
Summary
Site AZ EE:9:174, situated along the Santa Cruz River slightly north of the international
border between Mexico and Arizona, exhibited several structures and at least one deep, bellshaped,
extramural pit. Four pollen samples were selected as composite floor samples from
structures to identify pollen representing plants growing in the vicinity of these sites during
occupation and also to represent any plants processed in the structures. In addition, a fifth sample,
from a large, deep, bell-shaped extramural pit was examined to provide evidence on foods that
might have been stored in the pit.
