Author(s): Kathryn Puseman; Linda Scott Cummings
Year: 2003
Summary
A quid from a lava tube (Diversion Dam Cave) just outside Boise, Idaho, was examined to
determine that material was being chewed by the ancient inhabitants of the cave. A portion of the
quid was digested with bleach to release phytoliths that would aid in identification of the type of
plant material represented.
