POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF SAMPLES FROM SITES 5DA1951 AND 5DA1957, COLORADO
Author(s): Jaime Dexter; Kathryn Puseman; Linda Scott Cummings
Year: 2005
Summary
Sites 5DA 1951 and 5DA 1957 are multi-component sites within the boundaries of the
Rueter-Hess Reservoir Project in Douglas County, Colorado. Radiocarbon dates and
diagnostic artifacts obtained from the sites indicate occupations ranging from the Early Ceramic
through the Middle Archaic periods. A mano and metate, along with soil control samples, were
washed and examined for pollen. Additionally, twenty bulk sediment samples were floated to
recover macrofloral remains. Pollen and macrofloral analyses will be used to determine plant
resources available to the occupants of these sites.
