Author(s): Kathryn Puseman; Linda Scott Cummings; Jaime Dexter
Year: 2006
Summary
Four combination pollen/starch, phytolith, parasite, and macrofloral samples were
examined from the fill within two historic privies and one historic wooden cistern (possible privy)
at the Parking Lot C project area associated with the proposed Federal Courthouse Complex in
Buffalo, New York. Pollen/starch, phytolith, and macrofloral analyses will provide information
concerning foods eaten by the historic site occupants, trash deposited in the features, and
plants growing in the area during the time period represented. Parasite analysis can provide
some insight into the intestinal health of the people using the privies.
