Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings; Kathryn Puseman
Year: 2006
Summary
Site LA 49490 is a Jornada Mogollon Glencoe Phase village site located in Ruidoso Downs, Lincoln County, New Mexico. Pollen and macrofloral samples were collected from pits and a burned pithouse. Two of the pits exhibited refuse as fill and contained burials within the refuse. One of the individuals had been shot in the back and two projectile points remained with the burial. Pollen and macrofloral analyses were conducted to identify plants that might have been important in the burials and also to identify plants used and discarded by people living at this site.
