Pit Fill (Other Keyword)
1-6 (6 Records)
The fill of a large storage pit/refuse pit at the Brink Farm site (A10709.000012) in south central New York was examined for macrofloral remains. Two charcoal samples from this pit also were identified to determine the best charcoal to process for AMS radiocarbon analysis. The feature is believed to be associated with an Iroquoian habitation site located along the Susquehanna River. Macrofloral analysis will be used to provide information concerning plant resources utilized by the occupants...
POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT SITE LA 49490, VILLAGE OF RUIDOSO DOWNS, LINCOLN COUNTY, NEW MEXICO (2006)
Site LA 49490 is a Jornada Mogollon Glencoe Phase village site located in Ruidoso Downs, Lincoln County, New Mexico. Pollen and macrofloral samples were collected from pits and a burned pithouse. Two of the pits exhibited refuse as fill and contained burials within the refuse. One of the individuals had been shot in the back and two projectile points remained with the burial. Pollen and macrofloral analyses were conducted to identify plants that might have been important in the burials and also...
POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS FOR THE CARSON CITY FREEWAY PROJECT PHASE II, NEVADA (2004)
Twenty-two pollen and twenty macrofloral samples were collected from fill of structures and pits in the Carson City Freeway Phase 2 project. Fifty features were identified during Phase II testing. Analysis of pollen and macrofloral samples was prioritized to examine primarily structures. Eight radiocarbon dates have been received that indicate occupation between approximately 380 and 1760 BP. This phase of the analysis is considered to be an examination of the pollen and macrofloral records...
POLLEN, PHYTOLITH, AND STARCH ANALYSIS OF THREE PRE-LATTE/EARLY LATTE PHASE FEATURES FROM IBB S4, TINIAN (2004)
Three combination pollen, starch, and phytolith samples were examined from three separate pits at site IBB S4 on Tinian. Pollen, starch, and phytoliths were examined from these pits in an effort to identify whether or not any were agricultural pits or perhaps used in processing agricultural crops grown in this area. Occupation is dated to the end of the transitional Pre-Latte/Early Latte Phase, anchored by a radiocarbon age of AD 690-790 on charcoal recovered from the large pit represented...
POLLEN, PHYTOLlTH, AND STARCH ANALYSIS OF A PRE-LATTE PHASE PIT, GUAM (2004)
A single sample (14) was submitted for pollen, starch, and phytolith analysis from a pit exposed at site NP7. This pit yielded a calibrated radiocarbon age of AD 29-390, indicating late or transitional Pre-Latte Phase Marianas occupation. The pit is located at the edge of a wetland in the Miyama Hills. Modem vegetation includes Pandanus and Heterospathe palms.
POLLEN, STARCH, AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT SITE 5LA6493, COLORADO (2006)
Site 5LA6493 in the Comanche National Grasslands of southeastern Colorado consists of a room block with six rooms. Charcoal from three of the rooms yielded conventional radiocarbon ages of 990 ± 40 BP (Room 1), 1080 ± 40 BP (Room 2) and 1090 ± 40 BP (Room 5). Various samples have been submitted at different times for analysis. This report is a compilation of the work done at these various times. Five pollen and three macrofloral samples were submitted and examined in 2005. Soil samples...
