Author(s): Kathryn Puseman; Linda Scott Cummings
Year: 2003
Summary
A charred botanic specimen from Cave #2 at the Paisley 5 Mile Ridge Caves site (35LK3400) in southern Oregon was submitted for identification prior to radiocarbon analysis. The sample was recovered from near the bottom of a dry cave in deposits that also contained Pleistocene fauna. In addition to microscopic examination, a portion of the charred material was digested with Schulze solution to release starches or phytoliths present that would aid in identification.
