EXAMINATION OF BULK SOIL/DETRITAL CHARCOAL AND AMS RADIOCARBON AGE DETERMINATION OF MATERIAL FROM THE BOISE RIVER BASIN, IDAHO

Author(s): Peter Kováčik

Year: 2013

Summary

Thirteen bulk soil samples and 26 detrital charcoal samples from the Boise River Diversion Paleoflood Study were submitted for identification and recovery of organic fragments suitable for AMS radiocarbon age determination. These samples were collected from stream deposits along the Boise River and Mores Creek, Idaho. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated. Eight radiocarbon dates were obtained on charcoal and microscopic charcoal recovered from these samples.
