Summary
The geophysical survey of the King Site, 25DW 166, was conducted between June 13 and June 17, 2011 as part of the Midwest Archeological Center's technical assistance to the University of Colorado's archeological field school. The Midwest Archeological Center staff and student volunteers from the University of Colorado's archeological field school conducted the geophysical investigations of two locations within Site 25DW166 in Dawes County, Nebraska, as part of the archeological investigations of the site. The archeological prospection inventory of the site consisted of a magnetic survey with dual fluxgate gradiometer, a resistance survey with a resistivity meter and parallel twin probe array, a conductivity survey with an electromagnetic induction meter, and a ground penetrating radar survey with a gpr cart system and 400 mHz antenna. During the geophysical survey of King Site, a total of 12,800 m' or 3.16 acres was surveyed with the geophysical techniques. The geophysical survey of the site resulted in the identification of numerous subsurface anomalies associated with the Plains Village site and the historic and modern agricultural uses of the land.
