Author(s): David A. Bild
Year: 2004
Summary
The Salt River Project (SRP) requested that Logan Simpson Design Inc. (LSD) perform a Class III cultural resources survey of 155 acres in Glendale, Maricopa County, Arizona (Figure 1), for the planned New River-Agua Fria River Underground Storage Project (NAUSP). The project area is ca. 0.75 mile west of State Route 101 Loop, and is bounded by Bethany Home Road to the south, the New River to the west, the Grand Canal drain to the east, and an irrigation lateral of the Grand Canal to the north. The survey was requested to determine whether there are significant cultural resources within the project area that could be negatively affected by the proposed project. The project area is located on private land (Figure 2) that consists of agricultural land, vacant land, and an abandoned rural residence, within portions of the S1/2 Section 8, Township 2 North (T2N), Range 1 East (R1E), Gila and Salt River Baseline and Meridian (USGS 7.5' Quadrangle, El Mirage, Ariz. 1957/1982) (Figure 3).
