Pollen Analysis of Agricultural Terraces on La Plata Mesa, Agua Fria National Monument, Yavapai County, Arizona (2009)
Summary
The results from 38 pollen samples from La Plata Mesa in Agua Fria National Monument are presented in this report. The sample set was thoughtfully designed to compare an agricultural area densely packed with constructed terraces to a control area with natural terraces. The control and agricultural areas were then subdivided into three contexts and sampled for comparison: terraces (T), spaces between terraces (ITS), and non-terrace controls (C). The goal of the pollen analysis was to search for what crops were grown within the agricultural plots.
