Summary

T. S. Dye & Colleagues, Archaeologists conducted archaeological monitoring in support of the BAFS military housing privatization project at Waimanalo Ahupua‘a, Ko‘olaupoko District, O‘ahu Island. This undertaking consisted of the remodeling of Building 531, and the installation of new electrical and telecommunications lines along the northern portion of Family Circle Road. During the course of archaeological monitoring, six subsurface cultural features were discovered yielding charcoal, thermally altered rock, Sus scrofa bone, fish bone, and echinoid shell. These features are significant for the information on Hawaiian history and prehistory that they have yielded and are likely to yield. The undertaking had an adverse effect on these features. In order to mitigate this adverse effect, a data recovery project to identify wood charcoal recovered from the features and date suitable material is recommended.
