Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings

Year: 2016

Summary

The Phalanx Pho Site (48SU7506) is located on a large upland bench overlooking the New Fork River in the upper Green River Basin. Site discoveries included 22 scattered features, three semi-circular-shaped feature clusters, and three large charcoal-stained sandy areas. Radiocarbon dates ranged from 5720 ± 30 to 4110 ± 30 BP. Data recovery focused on Stains 4–6, which were sampled for pollen analysis. Single samples were submitted from each stain, then two hearths within each stain were selected for analysis. The site control sample was collected outside the main excavation block.
