Finding Aid, Seaboard Coast Line Railroad Relocation 1979
Part of the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad Relocation 1979 project
Author(s): Jesse Collins
Year: 2013
Summary
This collection is referred to as "Seaboard Coast Line Railroad Relocation 1979.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is one and a half (1.5) linear inches.
The documents date from 1968 to 1979. The investigation occurred in 1979, which explains the date of the project name. The range of dates includes a field map that was originally created in 1968. The documents were originally housed in acidic files in a cardboard box with other collections from the Richard B. Russell Multiple Resource Area. The documents were originally lacking a discernible order. Metal and plastic contaminants were found throughout the collection, and these were removed. Tape was also found in the collection and the tape that could be removed without damaging the documents was removed. Personal information was found in the final reports (Folder 4/3), and this was removed. The Abstract Draft for SCL R-2, contained sites 9EB427 and 9EB927. It is presumed that 9EB927 was written in error by the original writer, as it is not found elsewhere throughout the collection.
The collection contained five oversized maps from the investigation area that required flattening and smoothing. The documents were placed in the oversized storage.
