Summary

This report gives a brief history of Hanscom Air Force Base including Ipswich Antenna Station and Sagamore Hill Antenna Complex.

Hanscom AFB began as an auxiliary airport for Boston in mid-1941, and was utilized by the U.S. Army throughout World War II (Weitze 2001). Two organizations were conducting electronics research for the Army at the time: the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Radiation Laboratory, and Harvard’s Radio Research Laboratory (Hanscom AFB nd). With the end of the war, both laboratories were to be dissolved.

This is an incomplete report.
