Letter Report From US Army Adelphi Lab to US Army Corps of Engineers, Revised Report on Field Investigations and Preliminary Results

Part of the ADI project page (DRAFT) project

Author(s): Brooke Blades; Ian C. Burrow

Year: 1994

Summary

This report summarizes field investigations at the site designated 18-MO-396, otherwise known as Locus I within Area 400 at the Army Research Laboratory in Adelphi, Maryland. This report supplants the initial letter report dated October 20, 1994. A preliminary assessment of the site and recommendation pertaining to National Register eligibility will be presented herein.

The line between Montgomery County and Prince Georges County actually bifurcates the site area; a Montgomery County number was assigned to the site for administrative purposes by the Maryland Geological Survey. The site is located on an essentially level wooded bench above the Paint Branch; the trees appear to be relatively young, and probably date to the period after the property was acquired by the U.S. Government in 1944.
