Summary

The Nellis AFR Low Elevation Stratified Sample inventory was conducted in low areas of the range where most mission-related activities occur. This study, which was performed in accordance with Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act, had the following goals: 1) characterize the prehistoric cultural resources of low elevation areas on the range; and 2) use this information to construct a model for identifying areas of low to high potential for cultural remains. Data from this study can be integrated with the planning process for proposed Air Force programs to help in assessing the level of effort necessary to achieve compliance with environmental requirements. The cultural resources inventory identified 420 sites on the 12 inventoried ranges, 12 of which were considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
