Part of the Nellis Air Force Base (DRAFT) project

Author(s): Daron Duke; Mark C. Slaughter; Martin Goetz; Brian Knight

Year: 2001

Summary

A cultural resources inventory of areas in the Spotted Range, Indian Springs Valley, and Three Lakes Valley in the South Range of the Nevada Test and Training Range was conducted in accordance with sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Ten prehistoric archaeological sites were recorded. These consist of open-air and rockshelter sites containing primarily lithic artifacts. The research focus of the study was to test several implications of Bettinger and Baumhoff’s “traveler-processor” model as they relate to land use and technology through data classes common to archaeological surveys, such as site location and lithic artifacts. American Indian Monitoring Program Report for the Nellis Air Force Range South Range Sample Survey in Southern Nevada attached.
