Cultural Resource Survey and NRHP Eligibility Assessment of 100 Acres on Cannon Air Force Base in Curry County, New Mexico

Summary

Between May 18 and May 19 of 2015, Baer/Versar Inc. Joint Venture performed a linear pedestrian survey that followed the standards outlined under NMAC 4.10.15.10 (August 15, 2005) on 100 acres within the boundaries of Cannon Air Force Base (CAFB) in Curry County, New Mexico.

The project goal was to identify all prehistoric and historic archaeological sites within three noncontiguous survey parcels (i.e., 5 acres, 25 acres, and 70 acres,) and develop NRHP eligibility recommendations for any existing or newly discovered sites. The survey documented one cultural resource site and five isolated finds. The single site (LA 181842) is recommended not eligible for inclusion in the NRHP.
