Government Maritime Mangers Forum: Adjust The Sails!

Summary

This is a forum/panel proposal presented at the 2021 annual meeting of the Society for Historical Archaeology.

The writer, William Arthur Ward, stated, “The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.” With the Corona pandemic, its effects on the economy and concomitantly government budgets, as well as the potential threats to preservation posed by changes to the National Register of Historic Places and the National Environmental Policy Act, the past year has called for more sail adjustments than the America’s Cup. With the submission of this abstract in June, these “interesting times” may continue to necessitate adjustments for the foreseeable future.
