Summary
This report satisfies the requirements of House Report 116-445, page 7, accompanying H.R. 7609, the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill, 2021. House Report 116-445 requests that the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Energy, Installations, and Environment provide a study to Congress regarding services DoD provides to State Historic Preservation Officers (SHPOs) and systemic departmental issues when requesting concurrence on historical designations from SHPOs; and best practices and recommendations for improving the Section 106 process of the National Historic Preservation Act.
