Cultural Resource Survey of 18 Acres for a Proposed Construction Yard, Kirtland Air Force Base, Bernaillo County, New Mexico

Summary

Mariah Associates, Inc. completed an 18-acre Class III cultural resource inventory for a proposed construction yard located on Kirtland Air Force Base, Bernalillo County, New Mexico. Four isolated occurrences and a single archaeological site were recorded.

The site, LA 99781, consists of a dispersed scatter of historic artifacts that may represent the remains of a pre-World War II habitation. Because the artifacts appear to have been redeposited and lack locational context, LA 99781 is considered a nonsignificant cultural resource and was recommended not eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) under Criterion D. The data potential of the isolated occurrences was considered to have been completely recorded during survey.
