Summary
This is an abstract from the session entitled "What’s in a Name? Discussions of Terminology, Theory and Infrastructure of Citizen Science in Maritime Archaeology" , at the 2022 annual meeting of the Society for Historical Archaeology.
Developing a citizen science program for a Veteran-related community is an evolving process. Relationships are built, communication standards are developed, mutual aims are outlined, resources are identified, and a plan is set forth. With all sustainable programs, however, there is a need for assessing goals, measuring outcomes, and outlining successes and areas for improvement. This assessment and feedback loop is critical to the program and can help redefine new goals, identify new resources, and strengthen relationships. This paper outlines a Veteran-related citizen science program developed for Task Force Dagger Special Operations Foundation and the evolution of that process.
