Summary

Summary report of Phase I survey of 1,018 acres. The investigation included background research as well as a comprehensive pedestrian survey and systematic shovel testing program within, or adjacent to, the old Camp Forrest. All areas were shovel tested at 30 meter intervals and screened through ¼ inch screen. Six previously recorded sites (40CF239, 40CF263, 40FR463, 40FR465, 40FR478, and 40FR504), were revisited and all were recommended not eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Two newly recorded sites were documented (40CF313 and 40CF314), both of which are historic scatters with no indications of intact deposits. These sites were recommended not eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
